I dropped in on the site on the way home.
The sun was shining and the flowers and shrubs are beginning to bud.
Four African kids were climbing all over the long-suffering and infinitely patient security man at the gate.
A deadly game of football between 'Dynamo Kiev' and 'Galatarasi' was in progress on the pitch.
Two girls were rollerblading at great speed with their little sister in a pushchair.
A Russian male teenager and a female Angolan one were deep in conversation.
They did not have any common language but that did not appear to impede communications!
And I remembered the early days of cold and fear here.
Two teams of security guards in fluroscent jackets constantly patrolling between the caravans.
Everyone terrified of everyone else.
Sometimes, just occasionally, things get better.

On Saturday....
We had a national meeting and a party in a local school.
The meeting was quite good with the decision to create working groups on various issues.
The party high spots were a great Congolese band and some Uigur dancers from western China.
That's a new achievement for the cultural life of this town.
The low spot was that no one was told about the party beforehand!
A lot of people at the meeting had to get trains and buses home.
Perhaps we need to work on our organisation skills!

The Concerned Adolescent.
Everywhere there is blood and the stench of death.
Human beings make war and hate one another.
They do not understand their young, they reject their ideals,
They make them come home early from the disco,
They are doomed.
