At the theatre on Sunday night....

and came out absolutely stunned.
It was a version of Antigone by Sophocles performed by an brilliant group. Complete with a masked chorus including singers and musicians.
Antigone had such a presence on stage that it was impossible to look away from her.

The arguments are as real now as they were 2500 years ago. Individual conscience versus the good of the state.
Antigone and Creon are both championing what they see as right, but they define rightness through different sets of values.

I know who Creon is in modern Ireland (Michael McDowell!) but who is Antigone?
