From today's Guardian:
Desperately seeking safety

Locked behind barbed wire, subjected to intimate body searches: is this how Britain should treat children?

We have not 'progressed' that far yet in this state but we are working on it!

D is desperate to see her 16-year old daughter again ...
so I'm trying to organise a family reunification visa.

So far I've had to involve the Office of Refugee Applications Commissioner, DOJELR Immigration section, UNHCR, the British Red Cross, the Irish Refugee Council and the Irish consulate in foreign parts!

Standard bureaucratic confusion prevails, no one seems to know what to do and everyone is convinced that it should be done by someone else.

It's difficult for me to work out what should be done, I'd hate not to have fluent English and be trying to make sense of it all.

Still we will get there.
